Selected illustrated work, both hand-drawn and digital.

CLIENT: Pop-Up Magazine

Two in a series of animations I created for Pop-Up Magazine’s live Golden State Record show at the Greek Theater.

Client: The New Yorker

My adulthood dream of being a New Yorker cartoonist came to fruition, and I’ve been a regular contributor since 2017.

CLIENT: MCSWEENEY’S

One of the covers for Dave Eggers’s 2021 novel The Every. This was a super fun project for many reasons, not the least of which was the hilarious subject matter which I was encouraged to embrace. Cover design by Sunra Thompson.

CLIENT: POP-UP MAGAZINE

Two in a series of illustrations for a video about 833 Bryant, a San Francisco housing project designed to help people without homes.

CLIENT: California Sunday

I contributed to a number of issues of California Sunday Magazine. Here are two examples, the second of which won a National Cartoonists Society’s Reuben Award for Best Magazine Illustration.

CLIENT: ASIAN ART MUSEUM

A series of illustrations commissioned to promote an exhibit on The Ramayana entitled “Drawing Rama.” The project highlighted how the story has been interpreted and re-interpreted across mediums over thousands of years.

Left: Prince Rama
Right: the demon king Ravana

CLIENT: DC Comics

A two-page spread I wrote and illustrated for MAD Magazine. Sadly this Spider-Man parody is the only time I’ve drawn him professionally.

CLIENT: WOMEN’s wear daily

Drawn in a distinctly different style for a more real-world feeling, multiple-page spreads which involved driving all over the San Francisco Bay Area, visiting locations for reference.

CLIENT: Lucky Peach Magazine

Left: A Buddhist mandala featuring breakfast cereal mascots. Available in the breakfast issue as a pull-out poster.
Right: A rather unconfident looking chef from a vertical two-page spread.

CLIENT: JOHNS HOPKINS

A cover, and portions of an interior portions of a comic from Johns Hopkins Magazine. This feature highlighted the successes of an accomplished alum.
